Our unique industrial scale facilities are based at Port Talbot, UK, where they provide a focus for QinetiQ’s gas turbine combustion research and development activities alongside an extensive suite of smaller-scale facilities and computational analysis tools.

Combustion Test Beds
QinetiQ have developed an extensive range of state-of-the-art hardware and instrumentation for use on the high pressure and internal traversing test beds. As such, we can offer optimised design solutions and expert advice in the following critical areas of gas turbine combustion:

Track Record
Having over 20 years experience in performing in-flame measurements at full load, QinetiQ have provided leading UK and European engine manufacturers with otherwise inaccessible data for CFD validation and design optimisation.
The facilities have enabled QinetiQ to achieve a number of world firsts including a large-scale EU demonstrator for LPP technology and flame transfer measurements at full load for combating combustion instabilities. In addition, the facilities have hosted
world-leading soot and aerosol measurement programmes.
