The effectiveness of fighter aircraft depends on the pilot’s performance and the tactics he uses. The need to be able to trial these out in a safe environment is paramount and made possible in the JOUST simulation training software.

JOUST – is QinetiQ’s world-class, man-in-the-loop, air-combat simulation system. JOUST allows fast jet pilots to improve their performance and tactics in a safe environment.

It simulates fast jet missions for concept and tactics development and training. Joust comprises desk-top mock-ups of fast jet cockpits, with realistic Heads Up Displays and out of cockpits views for Tornado and Typhoon cockpits.

It has the ability to provide high-fidelity, real-time weapons and systems models of the aircraft, comprehensive scenario-generation and quantitative data logging and analysis.
